David Anointed King Over Judah
1. And it came to pass after this, that David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said unto him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.
1. Après cela, David consulta l`Éternel, en disant: Monterai-je dans une des villes de Juda? L`Éternel lui répondit: Monte. David dit: Où monterai-je? Et l`Éternel répondit: A Hébron.

2. So David went up thither, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail Nabal's wife the Carmelite.

3. And his men that were with him did David bring up, every man with his household: and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.

4. And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, That the men of Jabeshgilead were they that buried Saul.

5. And David sent messengers unto the men of Jabeshgilead, and said unto them, Blessed be ye of the LORD, that ye have shewed this kindness unto your lord, even unto Saul, and have buried him.
5. David envoya des messagers aux gens de Jabès en Galaad, pour leur dire: Soyez bénis de l`Éternel, puisque vous avez ainsi montré de la bienveillance envers Saül, votre maître, et que vous l`avez enterré.

6. And now the LORD shew kindness and truth unto you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because ye have done this thing.
6. Et maintenant, que l`Éternel use envers vous de bonté et de fidélité. Moi aussi je vous ferai du bien, parce que vous avez agi de la sorte.

7. Therefore now let your hands be strengthened, and be ye valiant: for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.
7. "Que vos mains se fortifient, et soyez de vaillants hommes; car votre maître Saül est mort, et c`est moi que la maison de Juda a oint pour roi sur elle."

War Between the Houses of David and Saul
8. But Abner the son of Ner, captain of Saul's host, took Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahanaim;
8. Cependant Abner, fils de Ner, chef de l`armée de Saül, prit Isch Boscheth, fils de Saül, et le fit passer à Mahanaïm.
8. Fa Abnera, zanak' i Nera, komandin' ny miaramilan' i Saoly, naka an' Isboseta, zanakalahin' i Saoly, ka nitondra azy nankany Mahanaima,
9. And made him king over Gilead, and over the Ashurites, and over Jezreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.
9. Il l`établit roi sur Galaad, sur les Gueschuriens, sur Jizreel, sur Éphraïm, sur Benjamin, sur tout Israël.
9. Dia nampanjaka azy tamin' i Gileada sy ny Asorita sy Jezirela sy ny Efraima sy ny Benjamina ary ny Isiraely rehetra.
10. Ishbosheth Saul's son was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and reigned two years. But the house of Judah followed David.
10. Isch Boscheth, fils de Saül, était âgé de quarante ans, lorsqu`il devint roi d`Israël, et il régna deux ans. Il n`y eut que la maison de Juda qui resta attachée à David.

11. And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.

12. And Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ishbosheth the son of Saul, went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.
12. Abner, fils de Ner, et les gens d`Isch Boscheth, fils de Saül, sortirent de Mahanaïm pour marcher sur Gabaon.
12. Ary Abnera, zanak' i Nera sy ny mpanompon' Isboseta, zanak' i Saoly niala tao Mahanaima ka nankany Gibeona.
13. And Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out, and met together by the pool of Gibeon: and they sat down, the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool.
13. Joab, fils de Tseruja, et les gens de David, se mirent aussi en marche. Ils se rencontrèrent près de l`étang de Gabaon, et ils s`arrêtèrent les uns en deçà de l`étang, et les autres au delà.
13. "Ary Joaba, Zanak' i Zeroia, sy ny mpanompon' i Davida nivoaka ka nihaona tamin' ireo teo amoron' ny kamory tao Gibeona; ary samy nipetraka teo amin' ny lafin' ny kamory avy izy ireo."
14. And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise, and play before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.
14. Abner dit à Joab: Que ces jeunes gens se lèvent, et qu`ils se battent devant nous! Joab répondit: Qu`ils se lèvent!
14. Ary hoy Abnera tamin' i Joaba: Masìna ianao, aoka hitsangana ny zatovolahy hanao kilalao eto anatrehantsika. Ary hoy Joaba: Aoka ary izy ireo hitsangana.
15. Then there arose and went over by number twelve of Benjamin, which pertained to Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.
15. Ils se levèrent et s`avancèrent en nombre égal, douze pour Benjamin et pour Isch Boscheth, fils de Saül, et douze des gens de David.
15. Dia nisy nitsangana ka nita, dia roa ambin' ny folo lahy tamin' ny Benjamita, izay an' Isboseta, zanak' i Saoly, ary roa ambin' ny folo lahy koa tamin' ny mpanompon' i Davida.
16. And they caught every one his fellow by the head, and thrust his sword in his fellow's side; so they fell down together: wherefore that place was called Helkathhazzurim, which is in Gibeon.
16. Chacun saisissant son adversaire par la tête lui enfonça son épée dans le flanc, et ils tombèrent tous ensemble. Et l`on donna à ce lieu, qui est près de Gabaon, le nom de Helkath Hatsurim.
16. "Ary izy rehetra samy nifanavika nifampihazon-doha ka nifandefon-tehezana tamin' ny sabatra, dia niara-nikarapoka; koa izany no nanaovana izany fitoerana izay ao Gibeona izany hoe Helkata-hazorima."
17. And there was a very sore battle that day; and Abner was beaten, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.
17. Il y eut en ce jour un combat très rude, dans lequel Abner et les hommes d`Israël furent battus par les gens de David.
17. "Ary mafy ny ady tamin' izany andro izany; ary dia resy teo anoloan' ny mpanompon' i Davida i Abnera sy ny lehilahy amin' ny Isiraely."
18. And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel was as light of foot as a wild roe.
18. Là se trouvaient les trois fils de Tseruja: Joab, Abischaï et Asaël. Asaël avait les pieds légers comme une gazelle des champs:

19. And Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going he turned not to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.

20. Then Abner looked behind him, and said, Art thou Asahel? And he answered, I am.
20. Abner regarda derrière lui, et dit: Est-ce toi, Asaël? Et il répondit: C`est moi.
20. Ary Abnera niherika ka nanao hoe: Ianao moa izany, ry Asahela? Dia hoy izy: Izaho ity.
21. And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay thee hold on one of the young men, and take thee his armour. But Asahel would not turn aside from following of him.
21. "Abner lui dit: Tire à droite ou à gauche; saisis-toi de l`un de ces jeunes gens, et prends sa dépouille. Mais Asaël ne voulut point se détourner de lui."
21. Dia hoy Abnera taminy: Mivilia ianao, na ho amin' ny ankavanana, na ho amin' ny ankavia, ary zatovo anankiray no sambory, ka alaivo ny fiadiany. Fa Asahela tsy nety nivily, fa nanenjika azy ihany.
22. And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: wherefore should I smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother?
22. "Abner dit encore à Asaël: Détourne-toi de moi; pourquoi te frapperais-je et t`abattrais-je en terre? comment ensuite lèverais-je le visage devant ton frère Joab?"
22. "Ary hoy indray Abnera tamin' i Asahela: Mivilia ianao, fa aza manenjika ahy; fa hataoko inona moa izay hamely anao hikarapoka amin' ny tany, ary hataoko ahoana no fijery an' i Joaba rahalahinao?"
23. Howbeit he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear smote him under the fifth rib, that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.
23. Et Asaël refusa de se détourner. Sur quoi Abner le frappa au ventre avec l`extrémité inférieure de sa lance, et la lance sortit par derrière. Il tomba et mourut sur place. Tous ceux qui arrivaient au lieu où Asaël était tombé mort, s`y arrêtaient.
23. Nefa tsy nety nivily izy, ka dia nasian' i Abnera ny antse-defona teo amin' ny taolan-tehezany fahadimy, ka dia niboroaka teo an-damosiny ny lefona, ary nikarapoka teo izy ka maty niaraka tamin' izay. Ary izao no niseho, izay rehetra tonga teo amin' ilay nikarapohan' i Asahela sy nahafatesany dia nijanona.
24. Joab also and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sun went down when they were come to the hill of Ammah, that lieth before Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.
24. Joab et Abischaï poursuivirent Abner, et le soleil se couchait quand ils arrivèrent au coteau d`Amma, qui est en face de Guiach, sur le chemin du désert de Gabaon.
24. "Ary Joaba sy Abisay dia nanenjika an' i Abnera koa; ka nony tonga teo amin' ny havoana Ama izy ireo, izay tandrifin' i Gia amin' ny lalana mankany amin' ny efitr' i Gibeona, dia maty ny masoandro."
25. And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together after Abner, and became one troop, and stood on the top of an hill.
25. Les fils de Benjamin se rallièrent à la suite d`Abner et formèrent un corps, et ils s`arrêtèrent au sommet d`une colline.
25. Ary ny taranak' i Benjamina niangona teo amin' i Abnera ka nifoko ho iray toko ary nijanona teo an-tampon' ny havoana anankiray.
26. Then Abner called to Joab, and said, Shall the sword devour for ever? knowest thou not that it will be bitterness in the latter end? how long shall it be then, ere thou bid the people return from following their brethren?
26. Abner appela Joab, et dit: L`épée dévorera-t-elle toujours? Ne sais-tu pas qu`il y aura de l`amertume à la fin? Jusques à quand tarderas-tu à dire au peuple de ne plus poursuivre ses frères?
26. Ary Abnera niantso an' i Joaba hoe: Handany mandrakizay va ny sabatra? Tsy fantatrao va fa hangidy ny hiafaran' izany? Koa mandra-pahoviana no tsy hampiverenanao ny olona tsy hanenjika ny rahalahiny?
27. And Joab said, As God liveth, unless thou hadst spoken, surely then in the morning the people had gone up every one from following his brother.
27. Joab répondit: Dieu est vivant! si tu n`eusses parlé, le peuple n`aurait pas cessé avant le matin de poursuivre ses frères.
27. Ary hoy Joaba: Raha velona koa Andriamanitra, raha tsy ilay teninao, dia efa lasa nody any naraina avokoa ny olona ka tsy nanenjika ny rahalahiny akory.
28. So Joab blew a trumpet, and all the people stood still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.
28. "Et Joab sonna de la trompette, et tout le peuple s`arrêta; ils ne poursuivirent plus Israël, et ils ne continuèrent pas à se battre."
28. Dia nitsoka ny anjomara i Joaba, ka dia nijanona ny olona rehetra, ary tsy nanenjika ny Isiraely intsony na niady taminy intsony izy ireo.
29. And Abner and his men walked all that night through the plain, and passed over Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and they came to Mahanaim.
29. "Abner et ses gens marchèrent toute la nuit dans la plaine; ils passèrent le Jourdain, traversèrent en entier le Bithron, et arrivèrent à Mahanaïm."
29. Ary Abnera sy ny olony nandeha nandritra ny alina namaky ny tany lemaka, dia nita an' i Jordana sy namaky an' i Bitrona rehetra, ka dia tonga tao Mahanaima izy ireo.
30. And Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there lacked of David's servants nineteen men and Asahel.
30. "Joab revint de la poursuite d`Abner, et rassembla tout le peuple; il manquait dix-neuf hommes des gens de David, et Asaël."
30. "Ary Joaba niverina avy nanenjika an' i Abnera; Ary rehefa novoriany avokoa ny olona rehetra, dia sivy ambin' ny folo lahy mbamin' i Asahela no tsy teo ny mpanompon' i Davida."
31. But the servants of David had smitten of Benjamin, and of Abner's men, so that three hundred and threescore men died.
31. Mais les gens de David avaient frappé à mort trois cent soixante hommes parmi ceux de Benjamin et d`Abner.

32. And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Bethlehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at break of day.
32. Ils emportèrent Asaël, et l`enterrèrent dans le sépulcre de son père à Bethléhem. Joab et ses gens marchèrent toute la nuit, et le jour paraissait quand ils furent à Hébron.
